Asua CVNE tasting room of old wines

Great tradition and wines

In 1879, Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España, or CVNE for short, opened its doors - a family business born from the vision of two brothers in the train station district of Haro, in the heart of the Rioja region of Spain. Their ingenious choice of location bore fruit by revolutionizing the marketing and transport of their fine wines. Today, more than 140 years later, this family's legacy is thriving under the leadership of the fifth generation and has blossomed into one of Spain's leading wine empires.
The skills of CVNE unfold on the 545 hectares of magnificent vineyards in La Rioja Alta and La Rioja Alavesa, regions known for their outstanding terroirs. Here tradition, constant striving for quality and innovative spirit merge to form a living mosaic of winemaking art. CVNE recognized the benefits of fermentation in concrete tanks as early as the 1940s and later used gravity cellars to maximize the aromatic depth of the grapes.

Asúa 's wine creations are a tasteful testament to the era of winemaking pioneers: every sip reveals fruity elegance, skillfully interwoven with clear hints of the barrique. These wines are the result of meticulous selection and hand-picking of grapes that thrive on fertile soils with a rich proportion of calcareous loam and iron-rich clay. A special charm of these wines arises from the influence of the Atlantic, which causes significant temperature fluctuations between day and night during the late summer months - a key to their preserved freshness and grace.
The visual experience of these wines is completed by a special selection of labels: a collection of images by the artist and multi-talent Eduardo Arroyo Rodríguez, illustrating not only the bodega itself, but also the inspiring stories of its founders. A true feast for the senses that pleases both the palate and the eye.
