In addition to Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch is the second famous red wine variety from our Alpine neighbors and, depending on selection and aging, can result in a wide variety of interpretations. This version of a Reserve is one of the greatest wines of its kind and is very fairly priced given its quality. It is packed with dark berry fruit, an energizing spice box from a star kitchen and a skilfully placed carpet of aromas of subtle vanilla, cloves and a little caramel. The palate then continues with delicate tannins, which are perfectly supported by a delicious acidity and culminate in a breathtaking aftertaste.
With this wine, every evening ends in a holiday.

Artner Winery, Höflein in Burgenland

The best from Burgenland

The history of the Artner family business goes back to 1650 and since the 1980s the focus has been on producing wines with authenticity and character. Favored by the continental-Pannonian climate, Carnuntum is located east of Vienna and south of the Danube and offers ideal conditions for local as well as international grape varieties.

Hannes is the creative pioneer of the house, Peter is the cellar master and Christoph is responsible for international sales. He is also the one you meet regularly in Switzerland and you can get information from him about the current situation at the Artners. In 2018 there was news that the Artner winery was included in the group of traditional Austrian wineries: a great honor with many obligations in terms of quality, origin, nature and personality.

The wide range of different grape varieties ranges from the regionally typical Grüner Veltliner to the Gelber Muskateller and Riesling. However, the focus is on pressing local red wine varieties such as Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch. The top cuveé Massive A. Red is characterized by the strong character of Syrah, which also feels very comfortable in this area.
The conviction that top wines can only be produced in the wine cellar through careful and loving vineyard work all year round led the Artners to soon become organically certified . They are already working close to nature, greening the areas between the vines and planting trees where necessary to bring more insects into their vineyards.
