The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Vieux Donjon, one of the few wineries in the appellation that only produces a single red wine, gets off to a promising start. In the glass it is dark and shows aromas of clay and dark fruits reminiscent of blueberries and plums. It's full-bodied, dense and concentrated, with a rich, velvety feel and a long finish, both of which suggest it's worth cellaring until 2025. A great papal wine from one of my favorite family wineries, Vieux Donjon.
