Umbria is the only region in central and southern Italy that does not touch the sea. Perhaps that is one reason why it is perhaps the most unknown area in Italy. Perugia, Assisi or Lake Trasimeno should still be familiar to most people, and with Arnaldo Caprai and the Rosso di Montefalco, this region can definitely break free from the shadow of Tuscany, Abruzzo or Lazio.
The moderate price makes the true value of this wine somewhat forgotten and it will only reach its peak next year. But now things are already going strong with lots of dark berry fruit, a colorful mixture of spices and silky tannins, which support the melty acidity and, with a great aftertaste, make you want one more glass. A character head for price-conscious quality wine drinkers.
